The purpose of the project is to provide child protection services and comprehensive care to unaccompanied minors who arrive and reside within the Safe Zones operated in the Reception and Identification Centers (RIC) of Samos, Leros, Chios, and Kos. In each Safe Area, 24-hour care services, psychosocial and legal support, legal counseling, and assessment of the best interests of minors are provided until the completion of the first reception process by the competent Reception and Identification Service and their referral for accommodation within the framework of long-term care.
During the stay of unaccompanied minors in the Safe Zones, the provision of the following services is ensured:
i. Assistance in meeting basic needs (clothing, hygiene, etc.),
ii. Provision of twenty-four-hour (24-hour) care,
iii. Access to health facilities and services,
iv. Provision of counseling and psychological support services,
v. Provision of legal counseling and support services,
vi. Vulnerability assessment and evaluation of the minor's best interests,
vii. Provision of interpretation services with physical presence or, exceptionally, by telephone assistance in emergency cases,
viii. Provision of transportation services to meet the needs of unaccompanied minors.
